How to Start a Clothing Brand in Pakistan: A Practical Production Guide

Private-label clothing brand production with neck labels, hang tags and branded packaging

Starting a clothing brand in Pakistan begins with a product people want, a workable budget and a production plan. Whether you want a small printed T-shirt drop or a private-label collection, use this checklist to move from an idea to an order you can evaluate.

1. Define the customer and first product

Choose the customer, intended use, fit and selling channel before selecting fabric. A streetwear customer, a university society and a corporate buyer can each need a different cut and finish. Start with a small, coherent range and decide which sizes and colours you need to test.

2. Choose ready stock or custom manufacturing

Ready-stock garments let you evaluate an existing fit and fabric. Made-to-order manufacturing lets you discuss your own fabric, colour, pattern and branding, subject to the agreed specification and minimum. At FS Custom Prints, plain ready-stock garments have no minimum. Custom garment manufacturing, including custom collars and ribs, can be made from a single piece, but the cost per piece is higher; from around 10 to 15 pieces it becomes more economical. Ask for a separately quoted development sample before bulk production; sample availability, cost and timing are confirmed for your design. Other minimums depend on the product and production method.

3. Prepare a clear product brief

Share the garment type, fit, reference photos, fabric composition, preferred weight in GSM, colours, size breakdown and quantities. Include a size chart or a reference garment if possible. GSM describes fabric weight, but feel and fit also depend on fibre, knit and construction. Ask to see the actual fabric before approving production.

4. Select your branding method

  • DTF: an option for detailed or multi-colour artwork; printing starts from one piece when the garment and design are suitable.
  • Screen printing: request a quote for repeated designs on larger runs; setup and colour count affect the job.
  • Embroidery: a stitched finish for suitable logos, initials and artwork; single-piece work is available on request after review.
  • Puff printing: a raised effect for suitable designs; review a sample or proof before bulk.

Compare DTF, screen printing and embroidery and agree the final artwork size and placement with your supplier.

5. Plan labels and packaging

Discuss neck labels, wash-care labels, hang tags and packaging as separate line items. Confirm the material, artwork, quantities and whether each item is included in the quote. Supply accurate care information for the selected garment and review a proof before printing labels.

6. Review the sample and the full cost

FS Custom Prints offers a free basic mockup using supplied artwork. Original artwork and redraws are paid services. Ask for the available physical sample or print or embroidery proof, its cost and timing. Check fit, measurements, fabric, logo placement, stitching and finish before approving production.

For your own budget, include garments, decoration, labels, packaging, delivery, payment charges, photography, marketing, returns and any sample or development costs. Ask for an itemised quote. A low unit cost alone does not tell you whether the collection will be profitable.

7. Confirm the order and launch plan

Send your final artwork, garment specifications, colours, size breakdown, quantity, delivery city and deadline. Approve the written specification and proof before production. Production and delivery timings are quoted for each order. Start marketing with honest product photographs and descriptions and measure confirmed orders and profit, not only views or messages.
